Overview: The Plate Carrier (PC) replaced the Scalable Plate Carrier (SPC) and is the USMC vest of record. The PC provides a solution to the two areas of concern with the SPC: shoulder comfort and cummerbund stability.
Features: The PC is comprised of a vest with removable soft armor panels that extend a minimum of one-half inch beyond the Enhanced Small Arms Plates Inserts (ESAPI). The PC accepts the ESAPIs and provides both direct and indirect fire protection. The total weight and associated thermal burden are minimized in the PC, thereby enhancing the individual Marine’s mobility and lethality.
